Does the "Open Directory Project" have anything to do with search engine rank, like google rank?
Q. Hi im making my own website, but i want to know if i can make it visible without paying money. Does the open directory project site... have anything to do with getting my site on a web browser? If anyone can help that would be great thanks

A. By submitting your web site to dmoz and being accepted in the open directory, your site will be listed in a good number of directories. And that's a very good thing. You can have your web site spidered by Google, Yahoo, MSN and others by submitting your site to them. Search engine rank is more a function of two things. First, build your pages using good keywords (hope you understand that phrase) and with original, quality content. Secondly, writing articles is considered the very best way to get targeted traffic to your site. The good news is that it's free. To learn more visit You'll find articles you can use on your site and you'll discover articles that will explain exactly how to write articles. All the best with your web… [cont.]

What open source solution is there for this collabaration project?
Q. I would like to have the following tools available to me and my users: Directory user-submitted Web links Forums online discussions on a variety of topics File repository user-submitted files (If possible, not a requesit: Wiki/Doc editer Collaboratively authored documents) I would like this to be a simple solution and installed on my domain, and it all to be integrated. I had a look at TikiWiki but it seems too much for my needs. The doc collaboartion is not the most important. I was wondering if there is an opensource solution that would meet these needs? Thanks

A. Try Drupal or Joomla. Most of what you mention comes with the default distribution, extra functionality can be installed as modules, generally very easy to do.

A. Hi, This is going to be a bit tricky since i am currenlty using vista but i have used xp for a long time. Now first you will need to find out if you have installed IIS (internet information server) on your PC or not. You can install iis by following the steps on this microsoft site docs. Once you have installed IIS type in and it should be display a page that goes on about IIS. now if you look in your C:\ (assuming that is where you installed windows) there will be a directory called inetpub->WWWroot This is the location where you would store all your files and it is the root directory. so now you can get testing your asp files Best luck mate Cheers Matty

Q. in c++ any header file not include project menu directories some information given my self not clear so ask question
Asked by kumarvanathy - Sat May 20 09:07:57 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Any included files must be in your include path. If not the system will not be able to find them at compile time. You might try to write your question with some punctuation so it is easier to understand. It is not really clear what you are trying to ask.

A. Three quick possible things: 1. Did you actually '#include' it in the program? 2. Is the path to the file the same as what the IDE thinks it is? 3. Is this file actually corrupted or zero length? If the answer to 1 or 2 is no, then that is the problem. If the answer to number 3 is yes, that is the problem. I hope this helps you out. Pivy.

Is there a public place where I can find out the opening times of all bars?
Q. I'm wanting to find out the opening times of bars to be able to compare them for a project I'm working on. I've searched through lots of directories and none of them feature opening times for every bar, it's very hit and miss. Does anyone know if local councils keep records that the public can view? Or is there a website with every local bar listed? I'm also interested in bars, restaurants and clubs. If anybody could help I would really appreciate it!
Asked by Laura - Tue Oct 13 15:08:28 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The local council will have records of any license applied for but that would not show the open/close times. as many bars and clubs would have a licence to open say until 2am any day but just open late at the weekends or if there was a function on. The web sites that list bars and clubs cannot be relied upon as accurate sources as the bar /club owners do not update the info. Are the bars/ clubs in a set town or UK wide add additional details if you want will try to help

Newbie question about Groovy/Java?
Q. I know this is probably a really stupid question, but I've been digging around for hours, and have been unable to find anything on this. I'm a PHP/Python guy, so I'm not 100% sure how Java works. I am trying to compile an existing open source project written in Groovy. I figured out how to compile it with ant, but I can't seem to run it. I have a directory full of class files. Running them with the "java" command with the groovy jar files in the classpath gives me a "main class not found" error. Without the groovy jar in the classpath, it says it is unable to find the groovy libs or something. If I run the class files with the "groovy" command, it always says I have an unrecognized character. I know I'm probably missing something… [cont.]
Asked by Tom - Wed Aug 26 22:32:52 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. What I would do is do a: grep "public void main(" -l * */* */*/* on the directory where the .java files are, that should output the main class which you should run, if for instance you get app/li/cat/ion/Runner.jav a as output run it with java app.li.cat.ion.Runner

Relative File Path in an Excel macro, help please!?
Q. I am using a macro to open a temporary file (named Temp.xls) and then format some data in the file in various ways. I can easily get the macro to open the file only in Visual Basic it shows the entire path directory thing (e.g. C:/Me/Project/Temp.xls). However, I want to give this to someone else and it will not work on their computer as they will have different files etc... How can I get the macro to work in relation to the other Excel file (which is also in the Project folder)? Actual lines of script would be useful if possible. I hope this all makes sense BH

A. I'm pretty much a Linux guy myself, but that error message indicates that there's already something using port 80. So - either apache is already running and listening to port 80, WebCrossing is already online and listening on port 80, or IIS is already running and listening on port 80. That means that you have more then 1 problem... Problem 1) No web server should be listening on port 80 - but it appears that 2 are Problem 2) You need assistance configuring your instance of apache. ;) If this were a Linux machine, your config could be edited by editing the httpd.conf file. Perhaps windows has something similar. HTH!

Visual Studio 2005 - save as...?
Q. I selected "Save Form1.vb as..." on the file menu, saved it to my tutor's USB drive but now, Visual Studio keeps looking for Form1.vb, even though it's in the same directory as the rest of the project. I have tried everything like, opening Form1.vb but, Visual Studio just doesn't seem to recognize it, even though it is part of a program I've been writing. How do I solve this problem?

How do I solve this problem?

sims 2 body shop again...?
Q. i followed this tutorial and i did what it said but i got stuck on this part : "Bodyshop tells you where it stores the files. Simply open up windows explorer and locate the folder by following the directory path it shows you in the area marked above. Within the folder you'll find a number of files in the case of this tuition project there are four. For this simple lesson we only need concern ourselves with the first two. The colour file is obviously the image that represents the clothing and wraps the sim. This is the file we'll alter if we want to change the colour of the dress or place a slogan on it, but I'll come to that later" and sooo i tried and when to explorer i named the file cool kid. and i clicked on CoolKid and there was… [cont.]
