How much should a theory of childhood development figure into our understanding of ethics and ethical judgemen

A. A genuine ethical theory has to take into account, and exempt from accountability, living beings who act but who are not capable of ethical judgement, and I think most traditional ethical theories do this although one may not agree with their cut-off points. Childhood development theories are applicable to the extent that they define when the child can reasonably be expected to be capable of making ethical judgements. Most systems of ethics would define as wrong the act of blowing up George, a person who has never committed any harmful act against another and who has just been positively helpful to oneself. But if the bomb is detonated by the baby that George just fed because the baby saw a colorful object and pulled it, the baby cannot… [cont.]
