Feminism refers to political, cultural, and economic movements seeking greater, equal, or, among a minority, superior rights and participation in society for women and girls. These rights and means of participation include legal protection and inclusion in politics, business, and scholarship, and recognition and building of women's cultures and power. Its concepts overlap with those of women's rights. Feminism is controversial for challenging traditions in many fields and especially for supporting shifting the political balance toward women. Some feminists argue that men cause and benefit from sexism; while others argue that all people are harmed by gender roles and therefore that feminism is for women and men. Feminists are persons of either sex, or females only (in which case males may be profeminists), who believe in feminism.

Feminist theory emerged from these feminist movements and includes general theories and theories in a variety of disciplines. Feminist activists have campaigned for women's rights—such as in contract, property, and voting—while also promoting women's rights to bodily integrity and autonomy and reproductive rights. They have opposed domestic violence, sexual harassment, and sexual assault. In economics, they have advocated for workplace rights, including equal pay and opportunities for careers and to start businesses.

The movements and theoretical developments were historically led predominantly by middle-class white women from Western Europe and North America, but, since then, more women have proposed additional feminisms.

According to feminist philosophy should ladies use their breasts to their advantage?
Q. I have read feminist philosophy and understand it's about promoting equality for females. But I also understand that it tries to break the traditional image that females are "sexual objects". But I have noticed some feminists who boast about having a large chest and use it to their advantage to gain favors? Is this not a contradiction to feminists philosophy using sexuality to their advantage?

A. Yes. They are not feminists, they just like to call themselves that. They are confusing empowerment with ego and manipulation. Unfortunately there is a lot of that going around these days.

What are the potential dangers of dating a feminist?
Q. I've never dated a feminist (*shudders*), and I doubt I ever will. But I heard it can be a nightmare to date a feminist-misandrist. What potential problems can arise in a relationship with a feminist?

A. LOL... Well, rather than a lengthy discussion about it, suffice it to say that as I interpret the doctrine of Feminism in the modern era, dating a modern Feminist who still feels there is a significant degree of gender inequality in 2009 AD in the West, to the extent that she feels the movement is necessary, I'll just say that it'd be like walking on eggshells all the time; never know if I'll say or do something wrong or non-PC, hell it'd be too scary to think about. **I wanted to just make a point about how really careful people have to be if they wish to quote "scientific" sources or articles. The user "Kate" above provided a link to a pop-science website and no real source link (just prior to insulting you quite transparently,… [cont.]

A. The wage gap. There is no such as a wage gap as my sources state. All my sources - from CBC to ABC - support my claim that the wage gap does not exist: All sources are included in the Best Answer. Here is a logical argument as to WHY a wage gap could not exist: Also, keep in mind that we have the Equal Pay Act of 1693 which makes it illegal for an employer to pay someone less based on sex, gender, religion, sexual orrientation, etc [1].
