Certain events and dates become general knowledge but you have to have a general idea of what went on in an era for it to help you remember and then just try and learn some of those dates. Some will eventually become synonymous to you with certain events. Common examples are 1666 - Great Fire of London; 1789 - French Revolution; 1914-1918 World War I etc. Plus the most memorable one of recent times 9/11. Socialism is meant to represent the interests of the working class, The first example of a socialist state was the Soviet Union. The People's Republic of China, is a socialist state. In the West, such states are commonly known as "communist".
